Virginia's Heartland is only a short distance away from major metropolitan areas such as Richmond, Roanoke, Lynchburg and Charlottesville. US 460 and US 15, two of Virginia’s primary east-west and north-south transportation corridors run through the counties. These corridors provide direct access to four interstate highway systems: I-95, I-85, I-81 and I-64.
